"Signed," a photobook by Japanese photographer Yasuhiro Yoshioka. He made his debut at the "Yomiuri Independent Exhibition" in 1961, but his exhibited works were withdrawn for being "obscene." He then self-published his first photobook in 1962, mainly consisting of these removed works. Through the depiction of the human body using strong monochrome contrasts and collages, he challenged himself to avant-garde creation and expression, as if stripping away even the meaning of "humanity." His early works were highly praised by the master Man Ray. Subsequently, he made a name for himself with still photographs of Kobo Abe, Hiroshi Teshigahara, Nagisa Oshima, and others, and alongside Eikoh Hosoe, Yasuhiro Yoshioka was a leading figure in avant-garde photography in the 1960s. This book is a collection of avant-garde nudes published by Haga Shoten in the early 1970s, featuring actress Mihiro Wakabayashi, who also appeared in films by Nagisa Oshima and Koji Wakamatsu, as a model. Divided into six chapters, it boasts a unique mix of color and black-and-white images, and the cover design by Keisuke Nagatomo is stylish. The texts by Nagisa Oshima and Kazuko Shiraishi are also intriguing. The dust jacket is missing.
