"Paare / Pairs" is a photo book by German photographer Jochen Lempert. Born in Moers, near the Dutch border, in 1958, Lempert has been active in video and performance for a long time, and at the same time, he majored in and studied biology at university since the 1980s. Lempert began his full-fledged career as a photographer in the 1990s, and has already held solo exhibitions at national art museums in Germany, the United States, Canada, France, the Netherlands, and other countries. Lempert's style is not to capture nature and living things in a "subjective" way, as represented by the "Becher School" photographers such as Gursky and Ruff, which are mainstream in Germany, but to pursue their organic connections and infinite beauty. This book is a collection of works published on the occasion of an exhibition held in Frankfurt, Germany in 2022, and as the title suggests, it is a book rich in unique perspectives compiled around the concept of "pairs."
