Matsue (First Edition, With OBI) is co-authored by Masaharu Ueda, one of postwar Japan's leading photographers, and Taneichiro Kanto, a writer from Izumo. This book was republished in 2014 on the 60th anniversary of the opening of the publisher, San'in Broadcasting, but this is the original version published in 1978. In the early 1960s, editor-in-chief Yasuharu Hanamori, who was visiting the area for a special feature on Matsue for ``Kurashi no Techo,'' said, ``Why don't you publish a photo book with Mr. Ueda's photos and Kanto-kun's documents? '' is what started it all. Since then, many years have passed since then, and in 1978, when Mr. Hanamori suddenly passed away, the book finally saw the light of day through the local San'in Broadcasting. Most of the illustrations were taken in the 1960s, and the most recent one was taken in 1968. Ueda carried the heavy Linhof on his shoulders and chose rainy or cloudy days to take photographs, in an effort to portray Matsue's old, historic streets and Japanese atmosphere. The word "modern" suits Masaharu Ueda, but I think this book perfectly expresses the flavor of "history" and "tradition." Comes with obi.
