A photo book by Japanese photographer Yoshiyuki Iwase, "The Customs of the Sea Woman, Chiba, Iwawada 1931-1964". Yoshiyuki Iwase is famous as a photographer who has been chasing ama, but Yoshiyuki Iwase is the ancestor who has been chasing ama for a lifetime in his hometown of Onjuku, Chiba. Born in 1904 under the famous family of sake "Iwase", which has a history of nearly 300 years, he has been shooting "Ama" as a life work for more than 50 years as an amateur photographer, while his main business is the owner of the brewer. Yoshiyuki Iwase continued. He held his first solo exhibition in Matsuya, Ginza in 1993, and in 1957 he won the Prime Minister's Award at the Japan Photographic Art Exhibition sponsored by The Mainichi Newspapers. Born and raised in Sotobo Onjuku, it used to be a semi-agricultural and semi-fishing village, where women dive into the sea as ama, take abalone, turban shells and seaweed, and use it as a basis for their livelihood. At peak times, there were a total of 400 ama. As a culmination of this, the photo book "Ama no Gunzo" was published in a private edition in the 1980s, and a new edition was announced with the same name from the 2000s. Is the third work in the new series, which was compiled as "Ama's Group Image / Sequel". All editions have different recordings and edits, so it is recommended that you have a complete set.
