"Blue Persimmons" is a collection of works by Japanese photojournalist Yuki Iwanami. Born in Nagano Prefecture in 1977, she worked in the Yomiuri Shimbun photo department before moving to Fukushima Prefecture in 2015. She has been covering the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident for many years, and has been creating works on the theme of invisible radiation and the human heart it brings. This book is a collection of photographs that Iwanami took in Fukushima over a period of 10 years. The photographs capture the fear caused by the invisible presence of radiation, as well as landscapes that evoke distortions of time and space. The pages, where multiple photographs intertwine, such as decaying manmade objects covered in plants and brand new manmade objects that suddenly appeared, express the anxiety, fear, and sorrow that the artist felt.
