"Fukagawa: From the Remains of the Town, Mitsugu Onishi" is a collection of works by Mitsugu Onishi (1952-), one of Japan's leading photographers. Mitsugu Onishi has consistently captured the town on the east side of Tokyo where he lives from the perspective of a downtown resident. In the 1970s, many of his works were published in the "Album" series of Camera Mainichi, but he also left behind many experimental works at that time. This is a collection of "postcards" released in the 1990s. It contains 11 color photographs of alleys, landscapes, festivals, and more taken in Fukagawa. The images are full of a Showa-era feel, reminiscent of Takanashi Yutaka's "Town." "We can live because of the town. The town is always there (Mitsugu Onishi)."
