Eikoh Hosoe is one of the people who built the golden age of Japanese photography, active since the 1950s after the war, along with Shomei Tomatsu, Ikko Narahara, and Yasuhiro Ishimoto. His first photo book was "Man and Woman", followed by "Rose Punishment" with a motif of Yukio Mishima, and "Kamaitachi" with a model of the butoh artist Tatsumi Hijikata. Eikoh Hosoe has left behind many masterpieces in the 1960s and 1970s. This book is a collection of works published in conjunction with an exhibition held at Gallery White Room Tokyo, formerly located in GYRE in Omotesando, Jingu, and was mainly themed on "Rose Punishment" and "Embrace", which was created mainly in the late 1960s. The book also includes a text written by Hosoe himself about his strong bond with Yukio Mishima, who was his model for Rose Punishment and wrote the posthumous preface for Embrace.
