"Iowa Quiet Days" is a collection of collaborative works by Japanese female writer Yumiko Kurahashi (1935-2005) and her husband Tomihiro Kumagai. Born in Kochi Prefecture as the daughter of a dentist, Kurahashi worked part-time as a dental hygienist after graduating from university. The book "Partai" (1960), which she wrote, was highly evaluated and was nominated for the Akutagawa Prize. In the 1960s, she wrote her representative work, "Saint Girl" (1965), but at the same time she became ill, and from the following year she went to study at Iowa State University in the United States in order to recuperate. This book is a collection of essays about life in Iowa written during her recuperation. Kumagai enrolled in the same film workshop at Iowa State University as Kurahashi and continued to shoot there while learning photography, and the series is published in this book. Although some color is included, the content is mainly black and white, and Kurahashi soothed his heart and spent a peaceful time together beautifully. Obi missing.
