"Northern 3: Signed, With OBI" is a photobook by Daido Moriyama, one of Japan's leading photographers. This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition "Hokkaido Prologue" held at the Miyanomori Museum of Art Sapporo and other locations in Hokkaido in 2009, and "Hokkaido Chapter 2/Expansion" held in 2010, followed by the final exhibition "Hokkaido Final Chapter" in 2011. Moriyama stayed in Hokkaido for three months in 1978, and apart from contributing some of the negatives to camera magazines, he never printed the large number of negatives he took, leaving them sleeping in cardboard boxes for nearly 30 years. Exhibitions began in Hokkaido in June 2009, and continued in Hokkaido until 2011 ("Prologue", "Chapter 2/Expansion", and "Final Chapter"). Three books have been published in the "Northern" series, including this one, and this is the third and final issue. Up until issue 2, the magazine was made up of photos Moriyama had taken in the past, but this issue was newly shot in digital color with the aim of creating "new images." However, midway through the editing process, Moriyama's heart suddenly turned to "monochrome," so the magazine is made up of illustrations that were shot in color but printed in monochrome. Comes with a dust jacket.
