Raymond Lowey (1893-1986) is an American industrial designer representing the 20th century known for the catchphrase “from lipstick to locomotive”. From daily necessities to industrial machinery, commercial facilities, and Air Force One, where President Kennedy was on board, the design has penetrated the daily lives of America. In Japan, we are working on the package for the “Peace” cigarette, which was released in 1952 (and also for the “Lucky Strike” cigarette). This book is a translated version of a collection of works published in conjunction with an exhibition held in the United States in 2002. You can see the works of Loewy (and his company), and the streamline (streamline) that makes Rowy's design remarkable still feels a fresh future. In the first half of the 20th century, this is a book that summarizes the achievements of Lawie who built a new lifestyle from industrial design in the USA, which prospered as a victorious country.
