Japanese female photographer Kei Orihara's photo book "Jana -The New York Girl-". Born in 1948, he studied literature at university, and after graduating he worked in publishing and magazines. After that, he started working as a freelance photographer and worked on interview photographs for magazines. He held his first solo exhibition "Soul South" in 1977 and traveled to the United States from 1979 to 1981, but now he is active in the United States after returning to Japan. This book is a collection of photographs and texts of the friendships with Jana, a woman she met in New York, where Orihara first traveled to the United States. Originally from California, Jana, who wants to be an actress, has a free-spirited and catastrophic impression when she follows the text, and although she is somewhat dangerous, she also has an outstanding presence as a subject. Like Nobuyoshi Araki's Yoko and Seiichi Furuya's Christine, it seems that Orihara and Jana have a close relationship, and the natural yet photogenic appearance is impressive. Orihara's text, like my novel, is also excellent, and the story of the two people emerges very clearly along with the photographs.
