"Mrs. Merryman's Collection" is a collection of a woman's postcards. Published by MACK, a British publisher well known to photography fans, this book won the first Grand Prize in the "First Book Award" sponsored by the publisher with the aim of supporting artists who have never published a photo book before. The postcards collected by Anne-Marie Merryman between 1937 and 1980 were passed down to her granddaughter Anne-Sophie Merryman after her death. The grandmother collected postcards from various countries (including used ones addressed to unknown people) and thought of foreign countries, and the granddaughter, who never actually met her grandmother, thought of her grandmother through the collection, making this a book where longing and nostalgia intersect. The front and back of the postcards are displayed on a double page spread, but without that background, you can experience the design of the postcards and the charm of the photographs, and the writer's personality and design are also evident in the addresses and messages, making it a worthwhile read as calligraphy.
