"Coca Che" is a photo book by Swiss photographer Luc Chessex (1936-). After studying at a photography school, he went to Havana at the age of 25 to support the revolution through photography. He intended to stay for one year, but ended up staying for 14 years, during which he photographed life in Havana. From 1961 to 1968, he was employed by the government to photograph Castro and Che Guevara, who achieved the Cuban Revolution, and also served as director of "Cuba International". After that, he traveled around South America and returned to Lausanne in 1975. As the title suggests, this book is a photo book with Che Guevara and Coca-Cola as its motif. These photographs, taken from the 1960s to the 1970s, are included to contrast two icons that are overflowing in the city, Guevara's portrait and Coca-Cola advertisements. Chessex captures the scenery of everyday life in Havana, where the symbol of the revolution that has broken away from the United States (Guevara) and the national drink of the United States (Cola) coexist. It provides an excellent record of the unique post-revolutionary era and society.
