"Obsession (Japanese Edition)," a photobook by British photographer Bob Carlos Clark (1950–2006), is a representative early work by him, published by Quartet Books in 1981. Starting from the fields of commercial photography and fashion, Carlos Clark is known as an artist who elevated provocative nudes and fetishistic images into art photography. Utilizing dramatic lighting and meticulous monochrome prints, he vividly expressed sensuality and visual tension through the female body, clothing, and the contrast of light and shadow. In this book, subjects clad in fetishistic motifs such as latex and leather are enveloped in strong contrasts within a theatrical setting, creating a tense psychological distance between the photograph and the viewer. A preface by critic Philip Garner supplements the background, making this a collection that vividly imprints the unique sensual aesthetic that Carlos Clark established in the London photography scene of the early 1980s. This book is the Japanese edition published by Treville.
