"ao i sora (Blue Sky)" is a photobook by Japanese photographer Tatsuo Watanabe (1949-). Born in Yamanashi Prefecture, Watanabe gained experience in the photography department of "Shukan Sankei" while attending Seikei University, and participated in gravure photography from the time of the founding of Shogakukan's "GORO." Since then, he has photographed people in a wide range of fields, including magazines such as "Sharaku," "Shukan Post," and "Shukan Bunshun," as well as advertisements and photobooks, capturing numerous actors and talents. This book is an omnibus photobook published by Shueisha in 1997, featuring photographs of three young actresses and talents who were attracting attention at the time: Reina Komine, Sayaka Yoshino, and Yuka Nomura. Watanabe captures the natural expressions and presence of these three women, each with their own distinct personality, with his unique intimate and light sense of distance. This book is not only Watanabe's work, who has produced many female portraits in the 1990s, but also a book that conveys the publishing and entertainment culture of the late 1990s, bringing together three people who symbolize that era in one volume.
