"Record (mazemaze) B" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama (1938-). Through works such as "Nippon Gekijo Shashincho," "Karyudo," "Shashin yo Sayonara," and the "Kiroku" series which has continued for over half a century, Moriyama has fundamentally redefined postwar Japanese photography. He is an artist who views photography not only as "taking pictures," but also as encompassing "copying," "printing," and "editing" as part of the expression. In the 1970s, he also worked on experimental works using photocopiers, presenting reproduction and repetition itself as creative acts, in contrast to the conventional view of photography that absolutizes the value of original prints. This book connects Moriyama's long-standing practices to the present day. It was produced starting from a workshop held in New York, and incorporates the concept of "mazemaze," where the order of pages differs from book to book. The fact that different rhythms and stories are created depending on the editing order, even though the same photographs are composed of the same images, symbolizes Moriyama's idea that the meaning of a photograph is generated not by each individual image, but by the sequence of images. Of the limited edition of 100 copies, numbers 51 through 100 are distributed as the Akio Nagasawa edition, and it's interesting that the entire process, from production to binding and distribution, was conceived as part of the work. It's an attempt to re-examine the photobook medium itself, and it vividly demonstrates Daido Moriyama's creative attitude, which has remained experimental for over 50 years. Limited to 100 copies. Signed by the photographer .
