"Exactitudes" is a collection of works from the series "Exactitudes" by Dutch photographer Ari Versluis and profiler Ellie Uyttenbroek. Based in Rotterdam, the duo has been working since 1994 to observe fashion and subculture styles appearing on the streets of cities and systematically document people who share similar attire. The title is a portmanteau of "Exact" and "Attitude," and by photographing subjects against the same white background and in the same pose, and arranging them in a grid, they visualize the dress codes and behaviors of people belonging to specific styles. The series presents, in an almost typological way, the phenomenon in which clothing, which is supposed to express individuality, ultimately forms a collective identity. The book contains images taken in cities around the world, including Rotterdam, London, Milan, New York, and Beijing, and is the sixth volume in the series that compiles this long-term project.
