This is a photobook by Alessandra Sanguinetti (1968-), an American-born, Argentinian-raised photographer. Also known as a member of Magnum Photos, Sanguinetti has spent many years photographing the intimate world of rural Argentina, where humans and animals, life and death, memory and fantasy intertwine. This work is the second in her representative series, "The Adventures of Guille and Belinda," and follows the next ten years of cousins Guillermina and Belinda, whom she has been photographing since childhood. While it is an extension of the fantasies and play of their girlhood, the two gradually transform into adult women through experiences such as love, pregnancy, and childbirth. Their daily lives, surrounded by farm animals and grassland landscapes, may seem unchanged, but behind the photographs, the relationship and sense of distance that subtly change with time quietly permeate. Blurring the boundaries between staged scenes and documentary, this book delicately captures the intimacy between the two women and the feeling of an ending "eternal summer."
