"Jeanne (Signed & Message)," a photobook by Nobuyoshi Araki, also known as "Araki," is one of Japan's leading photographers. Published in 1991, the book was created in 1965 when Araki was 25 years old and working as an advertising photographer for Dentsu. Originally, it was a privately published photobook (original title: "Gemi: La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc") consisting of prints directly pasted into four scrapbooks. The original was lost, but about 25 years later, a film copy of all the pages was found, leading to the publication of this book. Inspired by Carl Theo Dreyer's film "The Passion of Joan of Arc," the book "uses bold montage techniques, and between the images that retain the raw traces of manual work, one can almost hear the youthful breath of a 25-year-old photographer who fully absorbed the atmosphere of the '60s" (from the commentary). Includes a signed and message of appreciation .
