"Kinbaku Shashin" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Akira Gomi. Born in Tokyo in 1953, Gomi graduated from the Department of Photography at Nihon University College of Art and then traveled to France for several years before returning to Japan in 1983. He subsequently worked for fashion magazines such as "Ryuko Tsushin" and "ELLE JAPON." Since the 1990s, he has attracted attention for his innovative use of digital media. His representative works include "YELLOWS," a photobook documenting the physical characteristics of 100 Japanese women, and "AMERICANS," a series of photographs of women in various American cities highlighting differences in skin color, body shape, and cultural background. These works were also released on CD-ROM. In recent years, he has also been working on creating works using generative AI, continuing his pursuit of the fusion of digital technology and photographic expression. This is a unique collection of color bondage photographs published in the early 1990s.
