"Les grandes vacances / Summer camp" is a photo book by French photographer and artist Bernard Faucon. Born in Provence in the south of France, Faucon spent his childhood surrounded by clear blue skies and lavender fields, majored in philosophy at the Sorbonne in Paris, and worked as a painter after graduating. He then turned to photography and produced many staged photographs, creating fictional works based on his childhood memories. Faucon's style is a tense spiritual fantasy where reality and fantasy, manmade and natural, reality and recollection intertwine vividly. This book is Faucon's masterpiece, his first photo book published in 1980. As the title suggests, it is a fictional story of mannequin boys enjoying "summer vacation". By including some real people, the book creates an image of reality in an unreal world.
