"The Best Days" is a collection of works by Korean-born photographer Yang Seung-woo, currently active in Japan. He came to Japan in 1996 at the age of 30 and enrolled in a photography school, aspiring to become a photographer. Even back then, he was fascinated by the human dynamics of big cities, and naturally found himself frequenting Shinjuku's Kabukicho district, where he would sleep and photograph. After a friend's suicide, Yang's desire to capture the strengths and weaknesses of human nature led him to continue to look directly at people, particularly their darker, more underground side. This book is an early work composed of images taken in the 2000s, inspired by the aforementioned friend's suicide and in which Yang turned his attention to himself and those close to him. While a new edition was published in 2019, this is the first edition, originally published in 2012.
