Disappear Into Earth is a collection of works by American photographer Colin Sussingham. A New York native whose creative practice includes urban skateboarding culture, Sussingham quietly examines his own and the global horizons by documenting multiple road trips he took between 2014 and 2020. His photographs transcend clear composition and stage direction, revealing numerous scenes where time and place intersect and travel and memory overlap. This book captures fragments of landscapes, objects, friends, thoughts, and curiosities he encountered along the way, connecting the city and suburbs, the everyday and the extraordinary. While a personal record, it also contains the universal margins of memory. Sussingham's perspective quietly suggests that photography is not simply a medium for showing things, but a medium that evokes the viewer's own journeys and memories, potentially allowing his travels to overlap with our own memories.
