"Children's Day: Dads (Limited Edition)" is a photo collection by leading Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. This book features black-and-white snapshots of children and their fathers from 1968, a casual visit to the park on Children's Day, as the park had just opened. It also features color snapshots taken during a return visit to Children's Day in 1995. The book flips vertically, with the 1968 snapshots arranged with children and their fathers on top and bottom. The children are uniformly photographed close up, while the fathers are photographed slightly further back. Both are framed in Araki's signature style, creating a heartwarming holiday scene. Araki is best known for his debut work, "Satchin" (1964, winner of the Taiyo Award). This book was published in conjunction with Araki's 1995 photo exhibition, "Satchin's Summer," held at Laforet Museum Harajuku (a VHS tape of "Satchin's Summer" is available). This is also an interesting book in that it contains photographs from the 1960s when Araki was working at Dentsu.
