"Olere Olala" is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Kishin Shinoyama. This book was published in 1971 when he was just 30 years old, a few years before the masterpieces "Sunny Day" and "House" from Kishin Shinoyama's early days in the 1970s. It is a human documentary that captures the carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, which takes place every February to March. Kishin Shinoyama flew to the other side of the world and boldly released his shutter, as if his instinct as a photographer to witness the world's largest festival where people lose themselves in excitement and meet free and open-minded people was awakened. Like many photographers who were fascinated by the turbulent New York of the 1960s, Shinoyama also captured the enthusiastic scene of Rio, filled with thrilling excitement that could not be experienced in Japan, in vivid color. In addition, this photograph taken in Rio was later re-shot by Nobuhiko Obayashi with a 16mm movie camera and made into a movie. A masterpiece by Kishin Shinoyama in his younger days, full of momentum and power. Art direction by Shozo Tsurumoto. (Featured in Parr&Badger Vol.Ⅲ)
