"Best Before End" is a collection of works by British photographer Stephen Gill. Influenced by his father, who was a photographer, Gill learned how to print in the darkroom from an early age and was interested in the nature and insects around him. He is a genuine photographer who started working at a photography company in Bristol during his junior high and high school years and became a full member of Magnum Photos by his mid-20s. However, in search of a freer photographic expression, he quickly left Magnum and, instead of entering the commercial world, he devoted himself to his own creative activities. He is a photographer who continues to pursue originality and new creative expression by incorporating new elements from various angles, such as concepts, cameras used, shooting styles, subject selection, and printing methods. This book, titled "Best Before End" in Japanese, focuses on energy drinks, whose consumption continues to increase, and raises questions about harsh urban life. The photos were taken in East London, and Gill soaked negatives in energy drinks purchased there, and compiled the unique changes into images, making this a collection of works that shine with Gill's unique creativity.
