"Piles of Time (Signed & Illusted)" is a photobook by Japanese photographer Risaku Suzuki. Risaku Suzuki began using photography as a medium in the late 1980s. In 1998, he released his first photobook "KUMANO," which was themed on visualizing geographical movement and temporal progression from Tokyo to Kumano and then to his hometown, Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture. The following year, he won the Kimura Ihei Photography Award for this book. He is internationally recognized as one of Japan's leading contemporary photographers, with solo exhibitions such as "Kumano, Snow, Cherry Blossoms" at the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum in 2007 and "Suzuki Risaku Photo Exhibition: Stream of Consciousness" at the Tokyo Opera City Art Gallery in 2015. This is Suzuki's second photobook, and is composed of two parts: "Osorezan," which was shot at Osorezan in Aomori Prefecture, and "Izanami," which depicts the festival at Hanakuura Shrine in Mie Prefecture. Like "KUMANO," it captures his trajectory in the style of a road movie. "Just as time and space are two sides of the same coin in film, in a sense neither 'Osorezan' nor 'Izanami' exist until the pages are opened. These photographs exist precisely in the sensations one has when they have finished looking at them" ("Photographs Just Waiting to be Borne" by Takako Matsuda). Signed and illustrated .
