The Park (2019) is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Yoshiyuki Kohei. Yoshiyuki has been active since the 1970s and is a leading "voyeur" photographer. The setting is near Shinjuku Central Park at the West Exit. At the time, there were no high-rise buildings yet, and Yoshiyuki happened to see a love scene of a couple on the way home from a shoot at night. A place that is a playground for children during the day becomes a playground for adults at night. Interested in the transformation of the city, Yoshiyuki has been frequenting the park at night ever since and has been working on close-up shots of couples' lewd acts through an infrared camera. Then, men gather to peek at the couples, and when he goes further to Yoyogi Park and Jingu Shrine, he encounters a hangout spot for male homosexuals. This is a "(night) park" documentary that captures not only male-female couples, but also male-male couples and even men peeping at them. Regardless of the ethical issues, his unique works have caught the eye of photography professionals around the world and are enduringly popular as collector's items. This is a new edition of Document Park, published in 2019 by the American publisher Radius Books, following the 2007 edition by Hatje Cantz. Large format, hardcover.
