Raised by Wolves (First Edition) is a photobook by American photographer Jim Goldberg. Born in 1953, Goldberg joined Magnum Photos in 2002 and has been a full member since 2006. Known for his style of work that combines photography and text on the theme of subculture, Goldberg has published his work in various magazines and has held exhibitions around the world. This book is a collection of works published in 1995 by the now-defunct Swiss publisher Scalo (revised and republished in 2016). This documentary work records the lives of teenagers (runaway boys and girls) living in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and also interviews the social workers and police who watch over them. The filming took place from 1985 to 1994, and in addition to photographs, it is structured like a scrapbook, with interviews, texts, video stills, and handwritten text. Contrary to the rough content, it is a social documentary that seeks to highlight American society through troubled young people. Published in Parr & Badger Vol. II.
