This book is a photo collection of "Aegean Sea," the first film by Ikeda Masuo (1934-1997), a Japanese painter, printmaker, sculptor, ceramist, and writer who created works through a wide range of expressions beyond traditional boundaries. The photographs were taken by Takahashi Hideo, who served as the film's art director. Ikeda was called an "erotic writer" and Takahashi was called an "erotic painter." It was an unprecedented undertaking for these two to take on a first film, but the film was a success, despite the controversy, as it was a popular work that also won the Akutagawa Prize. It is a typical Ikeda work that depicts a young man becoming immersed in the lust of one woman after another.
