"Nudes" is a collection of works by Andy Warhol (1928-1987), one of the most representative artists of the 20th century. This book was published at the time of an exhibition held at Robert Miller Gallery in New York in 1995, and its theme is "nudity." However, of the 53 images included, most are male nudes aimed at men, and some of them seem to include works that Warhol first submitted to a gallery in the early 1950s and were rejected. The book introduces drawings created in the 1950s and 1970s-1980s, as well as paintings from the 1980s onwards, but as is typical of Warhol, who was openly gay, men are the main characters. However, although the trend of publicly accepting homosexuality is spreading worldwide now, especially in the period immediately after the war, there was a strong negative attitude, and homosexuals themselves seemed to have a strong tendency to want to hide. Although Warhol didn't talk much about his private life, his tastes were strongly apparent in his works, and he was also quite vocal, so his open attitude was not viewed positively by many of his gay peers.
