The End of the Game is a collection of works by Peter Beard (1938-2020), one of the most representative postwar American photographers. This is the Japanese edition of Beard's well-known masterpiece The End of the Game, published in 1965. The image, layout, and design are different from the original version. Initially, poachers took the lives of animals, and then efforts were made to eliminate the poachers, but then elephants and other wild animals were driven to death one after another due to the expansion of human habitations and the shrinking of animal habitats due to artificial protected area policies. This is a masterpiece published by Beard to appeal to the mistakes of humans about the actual situation on the ground. Beard actually based himself in Africa and worked in a national park, continuing to report and take photographs, and not only published his work in photographs and text like a journalist, but also expressed it in a variety of ways, such as collaged diaries and paintings using animals and his own blood. This is a book that Beard put his heart and soul into, in which he continued to speak out about the reality of the situation for over 50 years until his passing in 2020.
