Blackwater is a collection of works by Robbie Lawrence, a photographer from Edinburgh, Scotland. He studied English literature at university and initially aimed to pursue a career in journalism, but began working as a photography trainee at the New York Times in Paris, and later worked as an editor at the New Yorker and the Financial Times, where he mastered photography and editorial techniques. Since then, he has also worked on feature-length documentaries, releasing works with motifs in the Congo and the Faroe Islands, as well as works set in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This is Robbie's first monograph, and is composed of images taken in the coastal area spanning Georgia and South Carolina in the United States. The external and internal events and changes of a single region are captured with a painterly soft touch and sensitivity. This is a book that will captivate you with Robbie's unique sense of abstraction and thoughtfulness, with an emphasis on narrative, and storytelling. Second printing.
