This book is a catalogue published in July 1997 as the first exhibition of the Kobe Fashion Museum, Japan's first public art museum with a focus on fashion (food, clothing, shelter, and play). The exhibition was held as an attempt to reexamine the meaning of new fashion photography beyond the framework of "fashion photography". The invited artists are Kishin Shinoyama (introducing portraits of famous artists in this exhibition), Yurie Nagashima (introducing snapshots, landscapes, and skateboarding works from overseas), Yasumasa Morimura (introducing multi-slides of self-portraits by actresses), Nobuyoshi Araki (introducing erotic images taken in 1997), Keiichi Tahara (introducing images based on light and memory), and Shoji Ueda (introducing images edited from works from the 1940s to the 1990s on the theme of Amphitheater of Time).
