This book is a collection of stills published when the film "La Jetee" by Chris Marker, a French film director, photographer, documentary filmmaker, and multi-artist, was released in Japan in 1999 by Zaji Films in Tokyo. In 2021, Marker's stills were used in the image visuals of the Japanese collection brand "Comme des Garcons," which became a hot topic, but Marker is a genius who even Rei Kawakubo respects. La Jetee is a 28-minute short film with a motif of time and memory, set in the fictional "time" of World War III, in which a Parisian boy reminisces about his "memories," becomes possessed, and finally dies. The style of projecting black-and-white photographs in succession, known as "photo romance," was also wonderful. This book contains lyrical and cinematic illustrations of "59" of the total 425 cuts, compiled in black and white. Leaflet included.
