American Roulette is a photo book by Japanese writer and photographer Shinya Fujiwara. A unique artist who has been publishing works that incorporate essays and photographs since the 1970s. A young man's wanderings in India, ``India Wandering'', ``Shoyo Yuuki'', winner of the 3rd Kimura Ihei Award, and ``Zen Toyo Kaido'', winner of the 23rd Mainichi Art Award, are works that are mainly set in Asia and can be felt through long wanderings. His photo essays, which question the climate, culture, lifestyle, and ultimately the meaning of life, are highly popular among men and women of all ages. Although he was mainly active as a writer in the 1980s, this book is a documentary about the author, who picked up a camera for the first time in about 10 years, and traveled across the American continent over a period of 7 months. In order to embody American car culture, we rented a large camping car and vividly captured the multifaceted nature of America, including its magnificent horizons, desolate landscapes, and urban streets. A unique self-questioning interview with the author is also included at the end of the book. This book is considered a masterpiece of photo essays. 1990, Second Printing (First Edition, Second Printing). Black belt. (Published in Parr & Badger / Vol.Ⅲ)
