Perpendicularly, (Territory) is a photo collection by Japanese photographer Hitoshi Tsuji. Since the mid-1970s, Hitoshi Tsuji has been working to pursue the meaning and essence of "city" and "photography". While wandering the city in search of "the next something", he is captivated by the vibrations of light, the brilliance of shadows, and the beauty of form, and presses the shutter. The illustrations captured with a penetrating gaze are full of unique contrast, texture, perspective, and composition, and make us think about the meaning and essence of time and space. Hitoshi Tsuji, who also produced a co-authored work with Louis Bolz, a master of New Topographics, can be said to be a kind of conceptual artist who transcends the classification of photography such as snap landscape, but this book is his first photo collection, self-published in 1975, early in his career. The unique book design, which opens like a double page and symbolizes the photographer's attitude towards photography and cities as he continues to explore "something" hidden in cities, was created by leading book designer Nobuyoshi Kikuchi. It is signed by the photographer .
