A collection of works by Japanese photographer Yasuhiro Yoshioka, ``Beast Love: Third Venus''. Yasuhiro Yoshioka is responsible for the still photography for ``The Woman in the Sand,'' based on the original story and screenplay by Kobo Abe and directed by Hiroshi Teshigahara, and has served as the cinematographer for ``Diary of a Shinjuku Thief,'' directed by Nagisa Oshima. He is an artist who challenges avant-garde experimental expression through depictions of the body using strong monochrome contrasts and collages. Although he made his debut at the Yomiuri Independent Exhibition in 1961, his works were later withdrawn because they were deemed obscene. The following year, in 1962, he published his first book at his own expense, mainly using these removed works. This is a one-of-a-kind book published in 1971 that depicts ``Women (Nudity)'' and ``Love with Monkeys, Dogs, and Cats (Third Venus).'' The innovative book design by Kohei Sugiura is also a must-see. Contains 40 unbound illustrations. Attached preface and obi included.
