Japanese photographer Akihide Tamura's photo book “BASE”. A historical exhibition "New Japanese Photography" held in 1974 at MoMA in New York. This exhibition was first introduced by a Japanese photographer in earnest by John Shakavsky, the director of MoMA, and Shoji Yamagishi, the camera's daily special editor. Yasuhiro Tahara and Ichitaka Narahara introduced 15 post-war Japanese photographers and their works. Among them, Akihide Tamura was one of them. The illustrations, which are colored with a unique sensibility and unique perspective, are also famous for the film industry master Akira Kurosawa, and Tamura is also famous for being responsible for the steel of many Kurosawa films, including Kagemusha. A photographer who has taught at Tokyo Zokei University and Tokyo Sogo Photo College for over 30 years and made a great contribution as a photography educator. This book consists of illustrations taken at US bases around Japan around the early 70s of Tamura. A military aircraft that flutters in the sky, an extraordinary new world "America" seen across the fence.
