A collection of works by American painter Cy Twombly (1928-2011) "Photographs of Cy Twombly - Lyricism of Variations". Born in Lexington, Virginia, he studied painting at the Boston School of the Arts and the Art Students League in New York, and his talent was highly regarded since his school days. In the mid-1950s, he made a name for himself along with Rauschenberg and Jasper Johns, and is now known as one of the representative artists of modern art in the 20th century. This book is a catalog of an exhibition held at the Kawamura Memorial DIC Museum of Art in 2016, and was the first exhibition in Japan to introduce Twombly's photographic works. At the age of 23, he started making photographs in a class he attended, and continued to take pictures with a Polaroid while working on his creative activities, mainly painting. Photographs of various motifs such as still lifes, 17th-century palaces, flowers, studios, and landscapes are sometimes cut out as abstract images, and combined with the atmosphere unique to Polaroids, they create a faint and poetic aspect. In addition to photographs, works such as drawings, sculptures, and prints are included. Designed by Yoshihisa Tanaka. 2nd edition.
