A collection of works by Henry Darger (1892-1973), an important figure in American outsider art, "Henry Darger's Room 851 Webster". While working as a janitor in a corner of Chicago, Darger continued to draw manuscripts and illustrations as a hobby. Before moving to the facility, the owner of the apartment he was renting was asked by Darger to dispose of all the household goods he had lived in for 40 years. . The owner, Nathan Lerner, who was originally a disciple of Moholy Nagy at Illinois Institute of Technology and an industrial designer, noticed the artistry of this relic and used his own connections to introduce it to people involved in the arts. It seems that he stopped disposing of the atelier halfway through and has worked to maintain this atelier for nearly 30 years. And after 2000, Darger finally came into the light of day, and the subsequent American dream is well known. This is a book composed mainly of atelier photos taken by Keizo Kitajima, who visited for a magazine interview shortly before the atelier was demolished. Both English and Japanese. 1st printing.
