Japanese photographer Mikio Tohara's photo book "Document Minage". Born in Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture in 1948, he started his career as a photographer in the 1970s. Initially, he was a part-time photographer for the puppet theater company Hitomiza, and although he was engaged in stage and advertising photography, he became a freelance photographer in the late 1970s. As a result, I mainly worked as a journalist covering social issues. In the 1970s, most of his activities were devoted to documenting them, with an emphasis on coverage of "minors" such as "runners," "juvenile delinquency," and "girl prostitution." A record of long-term coverage over half a year. About 5,000 minors were photographed. The illustrations, selected from a total of 800 films, beautifully depict the psychological states of boys and girls. Behind the scenes of a world where both parents have to work due to post-war economic growth, children who are hungry for affection are labeled as "fallouts" and isolated from society. One of the masterpieces of postwar documentary work that approaches the essence of such problems through careful interviews with children.
