"Au Village" is a collection of works by Marik Sidibe (1935-2016), a photographer from the Republic of Mali in West Africa. Sidibe was the first African photographer to win the Hasselblad International Award in Photography. After learning photography from Gerard Guillat, a Frenchman, in 1962 he founded a studio in Bamako, the capital of Mali. After that, in parallel with my commercial and journalism work, I started photographing local youth as my life's work. The freewheeling appearance of young people who were sensitive to music and fashion overlapped with the appearance of their own country, which was gradually liberated from colonial rule, and also symbolized the desire for freedom in opposition to the socialist state. . It is true that such an image made Sidibe famous worldwide, but this work introduces an unknown image. It is a record of rural life that Sidibe returned to his home village to take pictures during breaks from work. It introduces the records of people living self-sufficient lives, respecting each other and holding hands with each other. etc. are also glimpsed, and it is meaningful. Text is in French.
