A collection of works by Japanese photographer Katsuo Hanzawa "Human Spice 1988 on the American Road". Born in Fukushima Prefecture in 1945, he studied photography in earnest from the late 1960s to the 1970s, and has since been active as a freelancer. From live performances and portraits of musicians such as Tom Waits and The Rolling Stones, to Southern All Stars, YMO, and outside the music scene, he is a photographer who has been active in commercial photography of artists and celebrities. At the same time, he is also engaged in his own creative activities with motifs such as journeys and landscapes, but this is a collection of works composed of illustrations taken while traveling to Memphis and New Orleans in the southern United States. Originally shot for advertising, Hataki Mie (Kimie Hata) is in charge of styling. Reminiscent of Taishi Hirokawa's "as it is sonomam sonomama" (also styling by Hata), there are wonderful portraits that beautifully express the dignity and strength of human beings who are not defeated by fashion. Edited by Shigeo Goto.
