A collection of works by Japanese photographer Eiji Sakurai, "The Land of Reclaimed Hokkaido 1971 --1976". Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1942, Sakurai studied documentary journalism during the heyday of Tokyo College of Photography, and after graduating he worked at a photography studio in Tokyo, where he later became a leading photographer in Japan. It seems that there was also Takao Niikura. Niikura and Shoji Yamagishi of Camera Mainichi worked hard to take pictures together, and in the December 1967 issue of Camera Mainichi, the title of "Sailors" was Sakurai's work. Was also introduced. It seems that he currently runs his own studio in Tokyo, but this is a collection of works composed of illustrations taken in Hokkaido in the 1970s. "I want to take pictures of magnificent pioneers in search of the frontier spirit," and there are a series of wonderful illustrations of coal miners and pastoral workers captured in the camera with a documentary touch.
