The Atmosphere of Crime, 1957, a collection of works by Gordon Parks, an American photographer, film director and musician. Parks was the first successful African-American photographer and film director before and after the war. A jazz pianist when he was a teenager, he taught himself photography in his twenties, made a mark in journalism such as poverty, racism, and civil rights movements, and became Vogue's art director Alexander Liberman. He has been hired and is also active in fashion photography. Parks has been working as a staff photographer for more than 10 years at the photojournalism monument "LIFE" at the time, and this work is also the photograph and essay "The Atmosphere of" published by Parks in the September 1957 issue of LIFE. It is based on "Crime". The criminal situation in the United States at that time is depicted in an outstanding layout using colors. The fact that it was done by African photographers in the 1950s alone is astonishing. It was sold out shortly after its release from Steidl, and is a masterpiece that many photographers have featured in the 2020 Best Book. Published in 2020, first edition.
