A photo book of Iwao Yamawaki (1898-1987), a Japanese architect. Iwao Yamawaki was an architect who was active before and after the war, and after the war, as a professor in the design department of Nihon University College of Art, he was also an educator who laid the foundation for "Nihon University" design education. The basis of the educational theory is the modeling theory learned in "Bauhaus". After art critic Takehiko Mitsutani, he studied abroad with his wife for about two years from 1930, including Mies van der Rohe, one of the four great masters of modern architecture, and Wassily Kandinsky, a pioneer of abstract painting. I'm learning from The photographs seem to have been taken before studying abroad, and this is a collection of works composed of "modeling photographs" taken during the Bauhaus era. The architect's sense shines, such as the details of the material, the architectural form, the products designed by Mies and Josef Albers, and the lyrical depiction of soft focus with a design perspective and occasional reminiscent of Sudek. A lot of plates.
