"Katsura 1953, 1954 Katsura Imperial Villa" is a collection of works by Yasuhiro Ishimoto (1921-2012), one of Japan's leading photographers after the war. To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Yasuhiro Ishimoto's birth in 2021, Yasuhiro Ishimoto held an exhibition at the Kochi Museum of Art, which holds most of Ishimoto's works, in addition to holding the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography and the Tokyo Opera City Gallery at the same time. Ishimoto's three major works are based on the motifs of "Katsura," which depicts the Katsura Imperial Villa in Kyoto in the 1950s, "One Day," the first book, and Chicago, the United States, which can be said to be Ishimoto's second home. "Chicago, Chicago". This book is a large-format catalog published when an exhibition focusing on the early masterpiece "Katsura" was held at the Kanagawa Prefectural Museum of Modern Art in 2012, shortly after Ishimoto's death. It contains 35 pages of plates. At that time, there were many works that had a strong impact on documentary and journalism leaders and photographers such as Ken Domon and Ihei Kimura from a "design perspective" that Japanese people did not have.
