A photo book by Michael Kenna, a British photographer who is very popular in Japan. Born in Lancaster, England, Kenna studied photography and printing techniques in London before moving to the United States. He worked for nearly 10 years under Ruth Bernhardt, a famous female photographer in San Francisco, and learned photography and printing techniques. Since then, Kenna has been very active, and has held over 100 exhibitions in Japan alone, and has a steady stream of Japanese collectors. This book is a collection of works on the theme of "Hokkaido" published in 2006, and Kenna says it is "the most sophisticated book of his works to date." The preface by Daido Moriyama tells the whole story of this photo book. "The land of Hokkaido that Michael was inspired by has emerged as a completely new climate, with a perspective that we Japanese cannot have. (Omitted). It seems as if a pure, natural, untainted world has taken root. In other words, I think that Hokkaido has acquired a new 'another climate' through one foreign photographer, Michael Kenna." First edition limited to 1,000 copies. Signed by the photographer .
