"DUO" is a collection of works by Daido Moriyama and Hiroyasu Nakai, who represent Japan after the war. Daido Moriyama won the Hasselblad Foundation International Photo Award in 2019, and in 2020, a large-scale solo exhibition "On going" at the Tokyo Metropolitan Museum of Photography, and as the name implies, continues to evolve. The diary "Record", which was revived by Akio Nagasawa in the 2000s, has been numbered 44 to date. Meanwhile, Nakai, who died suddenly in 2016, studied at a workshop photography school in the 1970s and collaborated with Moriyama at the legendary Little Gallery "CAMP". After that, he continued his activities based in his hometown of Hachinohe. This book is a catalog published at the "From Paper to Book Making Exhibition 2019 Hiroyasu Nakai x Daimichi Moriyama x Satoru Machiguchi x Mitsubishi Paper Mills Hachinohe Factory" held at the Hachinohe Book Center in 2019. Designer Satoru Machiguchi is in charge of editing and book-making each of the 18 plates taken by Moriyama and Nakai. The paper used was produced at the Mitsubishi Paper Mills Hachinohe Mill. This is a wonderful collection of works created by a collaborative project between the community (public), companies (private) and creators. In addition to photographic plates, dialogue texts are also included.
